Elastic or Rubber Band Wear

During orthodontic treatment, elastic or rubber band wear can be an important part of the treatment process.

In Children:

 Elastic wear, especially in adolescents, can take advantage of facial growth to aid in correcting and jaw or bite discrepancies.  

 In Adults:

In adults, elastic wear is also important as they aid in correcting the bite as much as possible to come up with the nicest functional and aesthetic result.  

At first elastic wear is a little awkward, but usually in just a couple of days patients adapt quickly and find that they really don't even recognize that they are on.
